1963

Here’s how the Your Church in Brisbane City chapel looked at the Woman’s Golden Jubilee celebrating 50 years of the Churches of Christ women’s conference 1913-1963. Church goers sat on wooden pews and there were 2 aisles through the congregation. Lights can be viewed hanging from the ceiling. Flower arranging was an important way of bringing character to the chapel each week. On the back wall of the stage hymn numbers and Bible readings were posted to inform the audience what was coming up in the worship service. Church of Christ Hymn books were used each Sunday. Ann Street Church of Christ was a popular venue for Church of Christ conferences such as this.

1960-2019

Here’s how the Your Church in Brisbane City chapel looked  before its recent renovation in 2019. Since the early 1960s it had red carpet and wooden pews with red cushions. An overhead projector screen was used to display worship song lyrics and Bible verses. Zoom up to the ceiling to spot the projector. The white sheet on the back wall above the sound desk was used to project lyrics for people on stage to view. Traditionally communion was served each week from a special communion table that sat in the centre of the stage. This historic piece of furniture can now be seen at the entrance to the chapel beside the sound desk. Since the early 2000s the traditional table was removed from the stage and you can see another table was placed to the side of the stage for communion. Another change was the removal of the church organ and the church drum kit can be seen its place. Colour LED lights were introduced in 2010.
